Towns and Beaches of Koh Samui

Koh Samui’s most famous town, and by far the busiest tourist area, is Chaweng on the east coast. It has an abundance of expensive resorts and restaurants, buzzing nightlife, plus a beautiful 2 kilometer stretch of powdery white sand beach. Lamai, on the south east coast, is the next busiest town. It has more of a backpacker feel, and a lot cheaper accommodation. The beach here is much smaller, with deeper water and courser sand. A majority of Koh Samui’s nightlife is in Chaweng or Lamai. The town of Bo Phut, also on the north east, is also very popular, especially Fisherman’s Village with its distinctly mediteranian feel. Choeng Mon, on the north east, is another favourite with its fine white sandy beach and exclusive feel. Maenam, on the north, is also popular and is the home of the championship golf course, Santiburi. Taling Ngam, on the west coast, is a favorite for high-end, low density holiday villas, and Thong Krut, on the south coast, is also starting to get developed.

The island’s business and administration center is the town of Nathon, on the west coast. This is a decent size and meets many requirements business today, with business banking facilities and so on.
